2019 SHOWS

"RAGS INVITATIONAL" (March 7 - April 3)

Public reception Sunday, March 10 (2 - 4pm)

The nature of the show and hence the Title, INVITATIONAL:   each of the 9 studio artists has been asked to invite one outside artist to exhibit.  I have invited Karen K. Rosasco.  Karen, an exhibiting Artist and Instructor, has taught me invaluable information about the process of painting in mixed water media.  I have taken weeklong workshops multiple times when we both lived in Albany, NY.  She now is a strong member of the Staunton, VA art community and teaches workshops in Staunton.  Her website is:

Karen Rosasco's contribution is "Capriccio".
Mixed Media, 20” x 20”x 1.5”cradles

On The Square

My contribution is  “On The Square”
Mixed media (Acrylic and collage on paper affixed to gallery wrapped canvas) -16"H x 12"W x 1.5"deep.

"Fine Lines"

Exhibition Dates: April 1 - 28    (Reception on April 7, 2-5pm)

Sponsored by The League of Reston Artists for The Founder’s Day Exhibit at Lake Anne’s JoAnn Rose Gallery.

Prizes will be awarded and a book of paintings and statements will be available for purchase at the reception.  My 2 entries are below.

My first entry is  “60’s in Saratoga”
(mixed media on canvas, 30”H x 24”W x 1.5” cradles)

Statement:  The underlying map of Saratoga Springs, NY includes the old campus of Skidmore College which I attended from 1965-1969.  It is at the center of the spiral.  The collaged clippings inform us of the major events that defined the late 1960’s.  The spiral portrays the line of time, ever expanding like ripples on a pond.  Past events reverberate into the present world, a world so different from, yet so similar to, that turbulent era.

My other entry is  “Study In Eggshells #3”
Media:  Alcohol based ink markers on acid free drawing paper.
16”H x 17”W (framed).

Statement:  Drawing is all about line, edges and shape.  These eggshells remind us that there is a “Fine Line” between what is on the outside and what is on the inside.

I joined RAGS in May, 2017.  My permanent Studio Space is my space to display my art work of  paintings on 16 running feet of wall space. I switch back and forth in my floor space between painting or demonstrating simple jewelry techniques at a jeweler's bench and showing my handcrafted jewelry on display when I am present in the studio. Paintings and Jewelry are for sale.  The walls are changed seasonally or as pieces are sold.  My space is visible from the pedestrian walkway through big glass windows. Original Portfolio pieces and sometimes greeting cards are also available for sale.  A resume is available as well as a booklet showing samples of my jewelry.

The Studios of 9 different artists varying in style and media and the Gallery are open to visit on weekends from 12-5pm.  Also from 10-12 noon on Saturdays there is quite often a child oriented art project which also opens the Gallery and Studios for viewing.  Please contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots.
